Yesterday everyone got together for the first TADDMUG in I think 21 months. Though in many ways it didn’t feel that way at all. We’d seen each other at weddings, Anime North, and other little get togethers in smaller groups. But also it felt like we were all able to just carry on as though the gap had never happened, which I think in itself says a lot about the group and how close everyone is.
Arguably it’s been one of the best summers for outdoor activities in Ontario with so many sunny days all season. Except when TADDMUG wants to go to Toronto Island, then it rains. Once again we used our fall back, Marché, because we never need a reservation. Well… We didn’t, but it was close this month. Every room off the main area seemed to be reserved except for a small out of the way corner. This ended up working perfectly for us because the group who reserved the rest of the room never showed up!
If I weren’t so indecisive this post would have gone up months ago. But for some reason I just could not decide on a post-processing style for the photos. I liked aspects of two different processes I’d tried and just kept flip flopping on them. Eventually I stopped looking and kind of forgot… Now I’m forced to decide to get the post written because I have a back log again!
I have to admit, I’m pretty disappointed with the photos I have from Anime North. Being as hot it was I didn’t have much energy to take photos outside, and Doll North ended up being the only place I went with decent air conditioning and things to photograph. And even still, as I write this post I notice I didn’t get some photos I thought I had!
Once again we attended Cafe Princess, you may recognize the pink walls from past posts. Archangeli booked us the party room once again and the TADDMUG group did a decent job of filling the whole room. It wasn’t the fullest we’ve made that room mind you, but it was cosey enough.
Being the first meet of 2015 I guess some people were still recovering from Christmas/New Years or perhaps fulfilling their new years resolutions or something, as the meet was a bit smaller. We were “just” nine, and were out numbered by dolls two to one. The theme was sweaters and while not everyone had one, everyone did look bundled up for winter so that worked just as well. With Anime North and subsequently Doll North last month and my choosing not to attend, I didn’t get to meet up with everyone until this month. It certainly felt like quite a long time, so much so that I’d actually gone out to take photos without a doll meet, which is something else that hadn’t happened in quite a while (though I haven’t posted them yet). Even still I don’t feel as though I talked to everyone much, maybe I did, but I mostly remember desperately trying to get a good photo in various places with Horo and Alice and mostly failing. April is a busy month for many of the crew who attend the Toronto doll meets. Between Easter and preparing for Anime North, weekends are just as busy as weekdays. So scheduling becomes an issue for some and as such pushed us right back to the last day of the last weekend in April. Continue reading Toronto Doll Meet 14.4: Last Meet before Anime North
