Quickie 4.183: Waterski Show @ Clevelands House

This past Canada Day weekend family and myself went to Cleveland House in Minett, Ontario. The weather was iffy a lot of the time so I kept leaving my dSLR behind, and getting smartphone shots, which annoyed me to no end. Eventually though I pulled out the dSLR and the weather was great for the waterski show.

Here’s a smartphone panorama¬†from the balcony of the cabin my family had rented.

Here’s a spider that was a little too big for all our comfort. Though, he was still small by big spider standards. I can’t believe I got this shot with my Nexus 4.

A storm rolls in and looks like a monster with it’s mouth open.

A video of a guy with water jet boots that are attached to a Seadoo. Looks hella fun. Wish I’d brought my proper shotgun mic, didn’t think I’d be recording any video, I’m surprised I got any sound at all since this is just the onboard mic on my D7000.

The theme for the waterski show was Peter Pan, so we assumed the girl in red was Wendy, but really we had no idea. Here’s a sequence of pictures where all the girls are holding on with their feet and spinning around backwards, or well, tried until Wendy took them all down.

Another sequence where they all get up fine out of the water.

And another where they successfully achieve the result they intended above.

Captain Hook doing donuts and splashing the crowd all while the poor girl on the back desperately tries to hold on.

I’m not really sure what everything is supposed to signify in this themed show. The poor girl on the back of the Seadoo above makes sense as he’s kidnapping her and it’s a struggle. But this man waterskiing on a table top, I’m not really sure about.

Another sequence of photos, once again not really sure who’s who. But hey, they’re pretty good to be able to do this!

Like many other people in the world I enjoy watching other peoples failures. Three out of four did fine, but that fourth guy, well, you can tell he done screwed up well before his landing.

And the finale, they had two pyramids like this at different parts of the lake out front of Clevelands House. Pretty impressive!

And this is how they returned to shore, the boat would make a fly by beside the dock and then quickly turn so as to not hit land, and they would splash in next to the dock and climb out.

All in all it was a good weekend with the family, but to top it off, I stopped in at a craft brewery on the way home (though they’re owned by MolsonCoors now) and bought two of everything they make, at least, two of everything they make in can form, as I was worried the glass bottles would break on the bike.

Would have waited until there was no one in the picture, but, I was standing in the middle of the road in the middle of town…
