Recently went out for an 8-9 hour motorcycle ride through southern Ontario. I could have chosen a better route perhaps but all in all I was quite happy with the sights, which I’d seen before for the most part. One thing differed though, Goderich Ontario had been hit by an F3 Tornado since the last time I’d visited the downtown core. Sadly I didn’t remember this and didn’t take any pictures of the progress, I just thought there was a lot of construction… doh!
Rode up to Owen Sound, a lot of motorcyclists seemed to have the same idea as the town was full of motorcycles. I tried to find somewhere decent to eat that wasn’t a chain restaurant but couldn’t seem to find anything worthwhile. Quite the disappointment. After giving up I Googled a place that was further out of town but along Georgian Bay so I headed that direction only to find it was closed, so I went without lunch. I followed the “scenic route” and tried to stick to the lake shore and eventually came across a fork in the road. Turn right to follow the “scenic route” or go straight and stay on the water. I went straight, which turned into a dirt road, which turned into a mud road, which turned into a forest with leaves and mud and all in all probably isn’t the location you’d choose to ride your sportbike, unless you’re me, and you bought the wrong style bike and do it anyway. My new front tyre certainly wasn’t up to the task as it has less grooves in the tread than the last one, but I made due, with only a couple scares here and there where I thought I was going to go down.
After my little excursion, which had taken longer than I really expected it to, I headed back in the opposite direction towards Southhampton, Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and eventually ended up in Goderich where I ate dinner. I’d seen a sign that said “Paddy O’Neil’s Restaurant & Pub” and went looking for the place but damned if I could find it. I rode around the court house at the centre of town, wondering why there was so much construction and why this pub didn’t seem to exist. I probably should have asked someone, but eventually ended up in a place called “West Street Willy’s Eatery” which was filled with women, and only women (older, married women). It was truly a strange experience, I’d wondered if I came on the ‘wrong’ night, if it was supposed to be ladies only night, but they served me all the same.

By this time it was getting dark and I knew it’d be getting cold again, so I booked it home while I still had some light. Ran out of light real fast… But a good ride none the less!
Of course, I couldn’t do such a ride without bringing a certain someone along could I? Instead of the usual Kotobukiya Horo, I decided to go a little more risqué and bring CM’s Corporations Horo. I wish I’d remembered to get a shot of her with the bike. Or found some landmark-like objects to photograph her near. Like the Chi-Cheemaun which was docked down in Own Sound instead of where I’d always seen it up in Tobermory, I suspect it’s the end of the year for the ferry.
PS: I apologize for the lack of variation in the photos above, I had a lot of distance to cover, not enough time for lots of creativity to flow.
