Mexico Trip Log: Packed & Ready to Go

Well I’m packed and ready to go. Managed to find a place for the smallest Horo figure out there, Kotobukiya’s. Would have been nice to bring Volks’ with me on a trip again, but she was just too tight a fit. As I said on Twitter, they really should have made a Horo figma, would have made this situation much simpler.

Unlike my trip to Colorado I don’t think I’ll be able to update the site as I go, nor am I sure I’ll even manage to get Horo out of her box and into a respectable photo or not, but she’s coming just in case. My flight leaves in about 5 hours and I’m a touch paranoid that I’m going to miss it. Probably because this’ll be the first time in 13 years I’ve been on a plane, and back then I didn’t have to worry about any of it because it was all handled by my parents and it was before all the extra restrictions 9/11 added.

I do wish I could fit Horo in my carry-on luggage, but unfortunately that’s all camera equipment. Probably could have skimped on a lot of it if it were just myself going, but it’s a big wedding party and I’m requested and expected to use whatever skills I have in that regard. So, c’est la vie, I’ll just have to make do with what I’ve got.

PS: Damn DST this weekend, I lose an hour of my vacation! You all feel sorry I’m sure 😛

Bag full of camera equipment, eh? Let me guess — you’re the unofficial camera man of the wedding? In any case, have fun duuuude! =)

    • Aka says:

I was a groomsman and an unofficial camera man. Had a great time, did manage to fit in some pics of Horo and gather the courage to do it at a busy resort full of people looking at me. Hopefully they turned out.

  2. Oh, a trip to Mexico ^^. Make sure to get to the airport early. Not sure how it is there but here going through security always takes a bit of time :-/

    Have fun!

    • Aka says:

Surprisingly security was sooo quick. But immigration in Mexico was slow as hell, system went down just after I said “I wonder what they’d do if the system went down”. Turns out they’d do nothing and wait for it to come back up, even if it took hours.

      Had tons of fun 😀

  3. Rajura says:

Well, I’m looking forward to the photos…

You have convinced me to brave Washington D.C. for the Sakura later this month. Hopefully, I can get some good pics as well… no matter how others may look at me.

    Which Horo(s) to bring?!?!?!

    • Aka says:

I didn’t get as many as I wanted, was worried about carrying her around as well as weirding people out.

Turns out the people I met on the trip would have been totally ok with it, as well as those I already knew. So, next time I guess I’ll get more.

As for which to take, I chose Kotobukiya’s because she’s much easier to replace than the rest. After the incident in Colorado where I had to repair Volks’ Horo I figured safety first. However, if another pose works better, I would take it instead. Volks Horo worked out well in a lot of photos, and Kotobukya’s was harder for me to photograph I found. I also wished I’d taken CM’s Corps Horo as I felt her nudity would be better suited on a beach than the green dress. But that might have been too weird.
