Ride to Conestogo Lake

Ride to Conestogo Lake

July 11, 2011  |  Photography, Quickie  |  No Comments

All weekend I'd been crazy lazy and accomplished little of anything. I wanted to go out for a ride but I didn't feel like buying a paddock stand and lubricating my chain, plus it was hot and I was lazy. So today I got up early, got the cheapest paddock stand I could and learned me how to lubricate a chain properly via The YouTube. But god damn it was hot out (for Canada), so I waited, napped, waited and finally it was cool enough for a ride at 19:30 tonight. So I hit up Conestogo Lake and took a picture.

Ride to Long Point

Ride to Long Point

July 8, 2011  |  Photography, Quickie  |  No Comments

Rode down to Long Point Ontario today for fun and along the way I caught a glimpse of the above. Would have liked to get the bike in the picture as "proof" I was there but there was an ugly fence in the way unfortunately. Lots of beautiful scenery to be had, I wish I'd taken more pictures and I probably would have if it wasn't a bright early afternoon. Harsh shadows and blown out skies aren't fun.

Collection Update: Mid July

Collection Update: Mid July

July 8, 2011  |  Blog, Figures/Collection Updates  |  2 Comments

Well, I forgot to post my June update due to riding around Ontario on my motorcycle as much as free time would allow (Only about 1700 km). Plus with the Canada Post strike throughout June, not much really arrived anyway. And really, who wants to read a rant about another post office strike from yet another country? That's what I thought, so here we are July.

Hatsune Miku (Tony Taka ver.) by Max Factory

Hatsune Miku (Tony Taka ver.) by Max Factory

Despite my affection for this extraordinarily long twintailed princess, I still don't quite understand her success and popularity. Is it really so simple as her possessing just the right amount of 'moe' points for appeal? Or is it that she can be and has been manipulated in so many ways she can appeal to a much broader audience. Whatever it is, I've ordered or own a total of six Miku figures (seven if you include Kagamiku) with the majority of those arriving in the first half of this year, but today I'll be reviewing just one of those for now.

A New Hobby; A Birthday Present to Myself

A New Hobby; A Birthday Present to Myself

June 24, 2011  |  Automotive, Featured  |  16 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I inched another year towards death; I had a birthday. To help hasten the slow inevitability of death I decided to get a dangerous new hobby. I purchased a motorcycle. Admittedly not a very fast motorcycle by some standards but comparatively quick to mine automobile. With a weight-to-power ratio of 3.5 kg per kW (with me perched atop no less) it's nearly twice as fast as my Saabaru.

Collection Update: May

June 4, 2011  |  Blog, Figures/Collection Updates  |  9 Comments

This month was spring cleaning month. You wouldn't know it by the mess that I call my home but in relation to my collection I managed to sell a few items that I no longer held an interest in. And of course, new items arrived as well.

Aka and the fall of the Canadian Dollar to the Japanese Yen.

Aka and the fall of the Canadian Dollar to the Japanese Yen.

May 13, 2011  |  Blog  |  10 Comments

After years of speculation that Aka ruined the value of the Canadian Dollar against the Japanese Yen I decided that this afternoon I would conclusively analyze the issue and present my findings. After many minutes of data mining and research I can say without a doubt that many's hypothesis has been proven correct. Indeed, Aka is the cause of the Canadian Dollars decline and the growth of the Japanese market against it.

My thoughts on Crunchyroll

My thoughts on Crunchyroll

May 4, 2011  |  Anime, Blog, Entertainment  |  12 Comments

Even with the prospects of metered Internet in the air here in Canada I've been using streaming media sites at an increasing pace. Using sites like Vimeo for their always excellent independently produced films, YouTube for the the randomness that only it can offer to services like Netflix who offers a ton of content on demand in a superior fashion to my Cable provider. So it's only fitting that Crunchyroll would be the next step for me.
