Uhhh, the picture above doesn’t illustrate the magazine related problem. If it’s the issue that the fold lines are at the wrong places, yeah, but I don’t see the magazine size issue connection?

Miette-chan, I don't think it's shallow at all. The cover is terrible and gives off entirely the wrong impression for the book. You may be interested to hear though that Yen Press has offered a bit of a solution. They'll be offering the slip cover to online retailers who wish to participate. However there is currently no list available.

This might sound shallow, but that “cover” is the sole reason I will not be picking up Spicy Wolf.

Why didn’t they at least do it like what was done for the Haruhi novels? I might dislike the paper back versions, but I can always pick up the hardcovers with the original art work.

I think my biggest dislike for Sundome is pee. Seriously needs to be less, in fact, zero pee in it. But unfortunately there’s considerable amounts, gross. But I continue reading to figure out the female characters background.

I quite like Yen Press’s manga works. Seem very faithful but what I really like is that they go the extra mile and use the original source files for their printing rather than copies. That’s a big plus for me because you get so much more gradient and line quality that way. So I’ve always envisioned them as a high caliber company, but to see them fail at such a simple thing…

It’s neat to see them not take the safe route with some of their titles. I’m actually reading Sundome and quite enjoy it. Great…er…story?

I can’t say I honestly know much about Yen Press. I’d only heard of them due to Spice and Wolf being licensed by them, and since then finding out other things.

The manga they license is somewhat impressive as they don’t necessarily seem to take the safe route with some of them. I recently read some of Sundome and noticed Yen Press had licensed that, which shocked the heck out of me given the content.

Yen Press may have just tried to do something new here, hopefully they wont in the future, or if they do, they do it right.
